So I looked to the Reshiram and Typholosion deck for inspiration! I included four copies of Shelmet and Karablast, each of which likes the other. I picked up Furious Knights one day when we all decided to splurge on some cards. Typhlosion allows you to take fire energy out of the discard pile and put it on a Pokemon….See how this is an unbeatable strategy?ĭeck #2….Furious Knights/Noble Victories (heavily modified) The two Pokemon have synergy….Reshiram has a Blue Flare attack, that hits for 120 damage, but then he loses two fire energy to the discard pile. (Well, technically it only has one Quilava…It counts on Rare Candy to evolve Typhlosion most of the time) This deck is all about card advantage, being padded with support cards that let you search for the cards you need. Basically, it only has four Reshirams and four Cydiquil/Quilava/Typhlosions. This deck is called a “championship deck.” The cards do not have the standard back of the regular cards. And I must consider making a deck that is weak enough for them to take out so that they won’t lose confidence.ĭeck #1….Reshiphlosion (Reshiram and Typhlosion) link to bulbapedia May I write something similar in when I get 2100 more hits! Thank You all!īut now I have two decks that can’t be beaten. But no people interested in my give-aways…. One thing, Google doesn’t make it easy to be anonymous. I still have no followers or subscribers…out of all this traffic? I haven’t figured that out yet. I am still trying to work that out in my heart and mind. SpartanNerd Sundays have been a mild hit. I need to do more things like the Groovy Dork lists. I want to start doing some top ten lists. My review of Masters of the Universe #5 got a bunch of hits…(the one about She-Ra) My favorite thing to cover is Masters of the Universe…everything! You would see a lot more of this if I had more time. I really should look into a better situation for photographing my stuff. The review of the Sonic the Hedgehog figures is the one that I am most proud of the photos. My sister in law said, “So you’re the SpartanNerd….Wierd.” Good. I have been pretty good at keeping my identity secret….I mean there are some people who have figured it out, and I have given some pretty strong hints out there to those who know me. The SpartanSmurf #1 is requesting a name change….We’ll see…. My reviews of the Magic The Gathering Event decks are right behind those…. Shadow Era reviews generated the most hits right from the beginning. Most traffic comes from the USA, but some comes from almost everywhere around the world! Thanks for all the support, oh Hub City Geeks, whoever you are!

That might just be a dream come true, right? Imagine you could edit, annotate, organize and save all of your screenshots in a single tool, then easily upload them to collaborative apps such as Slack or Trello. Still, it can be a tedious process to take screenshots then use third-party tools for edits Screenshots are very useful in recording both amusing and crucial information and documenting problems so that others can see what's happening. When you use the print-screen option to take a picture, adding text, arrows and highlighters to the captured image can be tiresome. Screenshots are becoming more and more useful (and necessary) in our daily lives, whether we’re showing someone how something is done, asking questions of our own just sharing what we’ve found.Įvery system has the “Print Screen” option in some keystroke or another - but that still comes with drawbacks. When you specify None as the mapping function, imap() returns the items in the iterables as tuples. print ''.join(itertools.imap(lambda x, y : chr(x) + chr(y),, )) In the following example, we include characters from the lowercase set too. You can pass multiple iterables to imap(). **DO NOT* use to generate a password as it lacks sufficient entropy. You can use this to generate a random-looking id (maybe a filename or customer id or something). print ''.join(itertools.imap(lambda x : chr(x), )) First a random number in the correct range (65, 90) is generated and imapped to a character and finally joined. Here is an example to generate a random string. Like the python global function map(), itertools provides imap() which works with iterables. For example, suppose you have a generator and you want to obtain slices from it.Ĭonsider the following fibonacci generator from which we obtain a few values using islice(). Fibonacci GeneratorĪnother difference is that islice() accepts an iterable while the slice syntax requires an array. What is the difference between the array slice syntax and islice()? Well, the slice syntax allows you to select a single slice, whereas islice() allows you to loop over multiple slices in an ordered fashion. Difference between Array Slice Syntax and islice() Print list(itertools.islice(a, 4, None, 2))ģ.1. In the following example, islice() is used to select elements starting with fourth, skipping alternate items. print list(itertools.islice(string.ascii_lowercase, 0, None, 3)) The following example extracts every third character from the alphabet. The next function in the collection is itertools.islice() which returns an iterator for looping over slices in some ordered fashion. While this might not matter for small lists, it makes a difference when processing a large number of items. Well, itertools.ifilter() returns an iterator while filter() returns a list. So what is the difference between ifilter() and filter()? Python has a global function called filter() which also filters items in a list through a predicate function. Difference between ifilter() and filter() print 'randoms div 3: ', list(itertools.ifilter(lambda n : not n % 3, ))Ģ.1. Or some random numbers divisible by 3? You get the picture. Select a few random even integers? print 'random evens: ', list(itertools.ifilter(lambda n : n % 2 = 0, )) print list(itertools.ifilter(lambda c : c > 'e', 'abcdefg')) In this article, we present a few examples of ifilter(), islice(), imap() and izip().įirst off, we have itertools.ifilter() which filters an iterable or a list for items for which a predicate function returns true.Ĭonsider this simple example which selects all characters with a numeric value greater than ‘e’. We have covered count(), cycle() and chain() in the first part of this series, and compress(), dropwhile(), and groupby() in the second part. Python provides the itertools package which provides convenience functions for many common iterator operations. Nevertheless, Carter opened up to Hardwicke, sharing a few of her life changing experiences. “Holly-weird” she now calls Tinseltown as a result. Jerry Brown’s office and the parole board, had drawn interest from Hollywood before, she said, but once-promising opportunities always vanished as quickly as they appeared. “I have been so overpaid that I’m afraid to not continue to do this work to help other women.”Ībout three years ago, writer and “Thirteen” director Catherine Hardwicke approached Carter after seeing a CNN clip chronicling her journey.Ĭarter, who in 2017 received a pardon from then-Gov. “I’m living beyond my wildest imagination,” Carter added. We continue to use our experiences and platform to shed light to other women that it’s not over, that you can come out of abusive relationships, homelessness, incarceration and build a better life. “People are to be reminded that no matter how far on the scale you’ve gone, there is a comeback, a way up and out. “It all changed with Time for Change Foundation,” Carter, whom CNN named a Top 10 Hero in 2015, said. In addition to helping more than 1,700 women reclaim their lives, the nonprofit, which Carter expanded into the Bay Area in 2018, also has reunited more than 300 foster children with their mothers. She became an accountant, and in 2002 founded Time for Change Foundation in San Bernardino to help women transition from homelessness and incarceration to self-sufficiency. In the past, Carter has credited a stint in a rehabilitation program for turning her life around. “People have dreams to do all types of things,” Carter added, “and I’m living in someone else’s dream right now.”Ī former addict living without a home in San Bernardino, Los Angeles and San Francisco counties, Carter spent the better part of a dozen years – from ages 18 to 30 – in and out of prisons and jails. I would never think to ask God that, and that’s how you know it’s truly a blessing, because this had nothing to do with my skills or ability to make it happen. “Give me a new car, get my credit right, but I don’t be asking to be on no big screen. “Sometimes I can be overly blessed, blessed to where I’m in a position I never would’ve asked God to give me that,” Carter said in a July 7 phone interview. However, HandBrake can be used to transcode a Blu-ray Disc if DRM is first removed using a third-party application. One form of input is DVD-Video stored on a DVD, in an ISO image of a DVD, or on any data storage device as a VIDEO_TS folder.Īs with DVDs, HandBrake does not directly support the decryption of Blu-ray Discs. HandBrake transcodes video and audio from nearly any format to a handful of modern ones, but it does not defeat or circumvent copy protection. All make use of the CLI to enable queueing of several files in a single directory. Third-party scripts and UIs exist specifically for this purpose, such as HandBrake Batch Encoder, VideoScripts, and Batch HandBrake. HandBrake supports batch encoding through graphical user interface (GUI) and command-line interface (CLI). HandBrake supports adaptive deinterlacing, scaling, detelecine, and cropping, both automatic and manual. Users can customize the output by altering the bit rate, maximum file size or bit rate and sample rate via "constant quality". (HandBrake supports both the VCE and the newer VCN, but its interface only mentions the VCE by name, even if VCN hardware is present or a codec is being used that is too new to have VCE support.) Quick Sync was added in November 2014 with version 0.10.0, while NVENC and the VCE became supported in version 1.2.0, released December 2018. It is less often used for transcoding like that performed by HandBrake because its compression efficiency can rarely match an optimized software encoder for the same codec, but HandBrake still provides the owners of compatible hardware (who are willing to accept the tradeoff) with the option of hardware encoding. This hardware is usually provided for scenarios where quick and power-efficient compressed video is desired, such as videoconferencing and streaming video. Some GPUs (including GPUs physically integrated with CPUs, referred to by AMD as APUs) contain dedicated hardware for video encoding and decoding ( Intel's Quick Sync Video, Nvidia's NVENC, or AMD's Video Coding Engine / Video Core Next). There is another transcoder, called VidCoder, that uses HandBrake as its encoding engine. On 24 December 2016 after more than 13 years of development, HandBrake 1.0.0 was released. The MediaFork website and forums were moved to HandBrake's, and the next release was officially named HandBrake. Plans were then made to reintegrate MediaFork as a direct successor to HandBrake. On 13 February 2007, Hester and Long were contacted by Petit who informed them of his support and encouraged them to continue development. Hester and Long named the new project MediaFork. Unable to submit their revisions as a successor to HandBrake, Hester created a subversion repository mirroring HandBrake's final subversion (0.7.1) on the HandBrake website and began development on top of that. Hester and Long made progress in terms of stability, functionality, and look and feel, but it was not possible to submit their patch to the HandBrake subversion repository without authorisation from Petit. Since their work was complementary, they began working together to develop an unstable, but still compileable, release of HandBrake supporting the H.264 format. In September 2006, Rodney Hester and Chris Long had been independently working to extract the H.264 video compression format from Apple's iPod firmware (1.2) through reverse engineering before meeting on the HandBrake forum. From May–June 2006, no one in the HandBrake community was successful in contacting Petit, and no further code changes were officially made. Petit continued to be active on the HandBrake forum for a brief period after. He continued to be the primary developer until April 2006, when the last official Subversion revision was committed. HandBrake was originally developed by Eric Petit in 2003 as software for BeOS, before porting it to other systems. HandBrake clients are available for Linux, macOS, and Windows. These are collected in such a manner to make their use more effective and accessible (e.g., so that a user does not have to transcode a video's audio and visual components in separate steps, or with inaccessible command-line utilities). HandBrake's backend contains comparatively little original code the program is an integration of many third-party audio and video libraries, both codecs (such as FFmpeg, x264, and x265) and other components such as video deinterlacers (referred to as "filters"). It was originally developed in 2003 by Eric Petit to make ripping DVDs to a data storage device easier. HandBrake is a free and open-source transcoder for digital video files. This year he will be bringing them these fun LEGO advent calendars ( Star Wars, LEGO Friends) on December 1st.Įach year I always struggled with how to re-introduce and say goodbye to Mickey. Mickey gets up to mischief all year and also brings the kids some festive presents along the way. The kids love every second and it makes all of the planning worth it. Mickey always brings the kids a pair of Christmas pajamas on his arrival so they have them for the whole Christmas season. Mickey comes back each year with a bang – one of my favorites was his Welcome Breakfast we did a few years ago. As soon as Mickey arrives the kids wonder where they will find him each day. We read the book that came with Mickey and watch the Elf on the Shelf Movie (The Elf’s Story). He comes back every year on the Saturday afternoon Thanksgiving. My kids love Mickey – our Elf on a Shelf. One piece of magic they have that I didn’t while growing up is the Elf on the Shelf. With my kids we do the same things – we make lists, we plan a visit to see Santa and decorate the house together. Even when our belief wavered slightly, we still wrote lists to Santa. We’d begin researching, circling, highlighting and making our list to Santa. After the celebrations of the day were complete, we would sit with the big stack of ads that came in the newspaper that day. My family always kicked off the Christmas season on Thanksgiving. They completely believe in the magic that is Christmas and Santa and I swear there is an extra twinkle or two in their eyes come December. It’s exciting to have childhood memories of the delight that the season brings but it is even better to relive it all over again through my children. With Santa, snow, glistening lights, and the Elf that sits on a shelf & causes mischief the whole season long. Elf on the Shelf Letters Ĭhristmas is so magical. I try to make West Francia, Aquitaine and Burgundy as Kingdoms with dynasty members at the helm. You have all of the British Isles to put your sons into various duchies. This is where the game can go in so many interesting directions. Sometimes I wait to turn catholic until Ive raided up a solid chunk of money. Then I adventure into taking Neustria from West Francia when they're weak and try to form the Kingdom of Normandy with the duchies of Normandy, Brittany, Flanders and Anjou. I unite Norway but don't form the kingdom. I've recently been playing a lot of CK3 and the Harald Fairhair start. I’m excited about this oneįormed Kingdom of Normandy and here's why. I currently am doing my first ever run in Italy as a vassal of the pope. Great learning experience and I would say I learned a good 60% of what I know about the game today through my Alba playthrough. Meanwhile, my god, there was constant infighting. Then I was able to work my way up to taking over the throne. I got to take my time and develop my duchy, buildings and set up my titles. I was under the protection of a powerful king so I was not under much threat of invasion. This is because, as a new player, this game flowed at the perfect pace. They ultimately defeated me.ģrd favorite was my Alba playthrough. We were too weak as a tribe that made very little income. My mistake was I could never compete with the Norse people. I lost that play through but it was a lot of fun dealing with their raids and constantly doing this dance of allying with them one day and being their enemy the next. My second favorite run was when I played Onega- this little pagan tribal Duchy right next to the Norse people. I came quite close to being an emperor but it would always be a little out of reach every time I died. My whole family took over Spain! We formed different kingdoms and went to war with each other! I was slowly merging the titles. It was the perfect challenge taking over Spain, France and Africa because I could do it with relative ease, and yet every time I died it would throw everything off as my sons inherited the different titles lol. I had quite a bit of fun playing the Umayyad sultan. Currently, /r/CrusaderKings is operating its seventh communal game.
